What we found out about Ferrers...

During E.S we did a web quest to find information about our partner school in England. This is what we found:

The Ferrers School is in the middle of England in Rushden. The nearest big town is Northampton. We can see on the map, they play a lot of sports like Tennis, baseball, longjump , diskus, football and cricket. The name of the principal is Dr Rosemary Litawski.

They learn a lot of languages , first they learn German, then French and Spanish. After two years , they can learn to speak Russian , and Chinese. The specialist subjects are dancing, art , music , drama and design technology. There are 1091 pupils in the school. The colours of the uniforms are white and dark blue. The summer holidays start on the 20^th of july. The grade which corresponds to 4ème and 3ème in France are year 10 and year11.

Next May we hope to meet them and visit London and Paris with them.

Presenting Maud and Alice...

My name’s Maud, I’m fourteen. I live in Ebersheim. I’ve got a little brother and a little sister too.

Every Saturday, I go to Sélestat to climb. It’s my sport, I meet my friends there. It’s my favourite moment in the week. I laugh a lot and we play spiders on the wall.

I like reading, I read very night, I read a majority of thrillers and after, I’m afraid. I listen to music too. (rock music…)

During the holidays, I went to the Jura in August from the third to the sixth. I visited a lot of caves and waterfalls. I discovered a lot of wonderful landscapes…

Hello!

My name is Alice FALLER. I’m fourteen and I live in Epfig. I’ve got two brothers... and a guinea pig. I play the guitar every Wednesday and I swim every Monday. On Friday I sing in a Choir and every winter I ski with my family and my cousin. During my holidays I went one week to Germany to see my penfriend. We painted, read, listened to music and we went to the swimming pool. I also camped with my parents, with my God-mother and my cousin in the South of Alsace. We did lots of walking and the landscapes were very beautiful. On the 18^th of August it was my birthday then on the 20th of August I was to Lourdes with my best friends for one week. And when we came back there were two days and then I went back to school!

Presentation of our school

"Bernstein High"

Our school’s name is “Bernstein High”. There are between 400 and 450 pupils. Bernstein High is a normal school; we have school from 8.00am to midday then we go to eat in the canteen. Next we return to school from 1.30pm to 4.30pm but Tuesdays it’s till 5.30pm instead of 4.30pm. We have school on Saturdays morning too that’s why we don’t have school on Wednesday.

We stay at Bernstein High for four years. The first years, we can begin to do more sports than the other people if we want. It’s the UNSS (Union National des Sports Scolaire). The Second year, we can begin to learn Latin. And the third year, we can have two hours more English in the European Section where we learn the history of English countries. Our school is cool, dynamic with a very good atmosphere.

In our class, we are 24 pupils. We often work in groups and we discover lots of things about English-speaking countries. In the European Section we work less than in the other subjects, for example last year we did presentations about the British Isles, it was funny and every group did one of the British countries. Then we talked about Australia and some of us (seven pupils) had an Australian pen friend. Australia is as beautiful a country as British Isles. When we did Australia we did Dreamtime stories with an Aboriginal drawing or a Travel Brochure of the states or territories of Australia. And this year we are going to work on America and Great Britain because we are going to go to London and Paris with you. When Mrs Stenger said that we could have English pen friends we were very happy because maybe we will have new friends!

So, we like our class because all hours we have a good time!

Camille's summer hols.

Hello !

My name is Camille ANDRES. I'm thirteen and I live in Dambach-la-Ville. I've got one sister, one dog and one horse. I play the piano and I started the guitar this year. I also play tennis but I'm very dangerous ! I always throw the ball on someone. I go to the pool and I ski.

This holiday I went to Panormo, in Crete. I left on the twenty-fourth of August for one week. I went there by plane with my family. In the afternoon, I went to the beach, I swam in the pool and I played tennis and volleyball. The weather was very hot and sunny all the week. One day, I did an expedition in 4x4 : I discovered the country and the landscape was beautiful ! It was great fun to stay standing up in the car ! I left on the first of September. It was a wonderful holiday !

Lauren misses Rhylee...

My pen friend is Rhylee Taufale. When she arrived in France, she slept until the following day, so we didn’t do anything.

We went to school together, she told me that she understood nothing in German and she thought it’s a boring language.

We went to Colmar with Leah and Justine on the 20^th June. We went shopping. It was very funny!

On the 23^rd June, Rhylee went to Paris with the other Australians. It was only for 3 days but I had a feeling that it was more. I missed her a lot.

When school finished, we had lots of parties! Rhylee saw my cousins and the rest of my family for the first time at a family party. She liked my family and my family liked Rhylee. They say that she’s a funny girl and that she’s very very very nice.

On the 3^rd July, we went to Strasbourg with the rest of the Australians and the French pen friends. The visit of the Cathedral was interesting. After that we went shopping with Pauline and Olivia. It was really funny!

We went to Europapark on the 9^th July. Rhylee and me thought that it was the best and the funniest day, because we were together with all the “Dambach Australians”. After Europapark we went to a restaurant in Erstein. It was fun but sad cause we were together for the last time…

I had a very good time with Rhylee and the rest of the Australians. I miss them a lot. I can’t wait to go to Australia!

Ben and Brandon - what a pair !

I present to you my penfriend. His name is Brandon Trinh (perrochon, is his nickname). He is very optimistic and out-going but he is also impatient, fearful and messy. He is very tiring but he is very funny !! His parents are Billy and Lida. He has got two sisters: Nikita is ten and Cindy is eight. He is a musician, he plays the piano, drums and the guitar ! He plays Australian football. He is afraid of spiders, it's very strange for a boy !!

I like him but he is very tiring because, he has got a lot of energy !

I visited Epfig with him by bike. We went to Nancy with my family, he saw the Stanislas place. We went to Strasbourg with Mrs Hirschmiller. We went to Sélestat with my mother and I took him to the library. We visited Obernai and we ate an ice cream. We saw my sister's dance show in Barr, he didn't like it! We went bowling in Colmar ! We went to "la Montagne des Singes" with my parents and to "la Volerie des Aigles" and to "Mont Sainte Odile" !!

He liked the french food but he didn't like frogs' legs or snails. I showed him the French TV but he didn't like the American series in French because the voices of the actors aren't natural ! We saw a lot of films in French !

My best day with him was when we went to Europapark because it was very funny with the Australian penfriends and I made a lot of new friends.

My worst day ... I didn't have a worst day !

I am impatient to see him again !!

My penfriend from Australia stayed with me for three weeks!

It was really really wonderful !

Her name is Nicola, she likes shopping and likes cooking ( we cooked together a lot of things for example a chocolate cake ! MIAM ! )

She plays the piano like me. And she plays the guitar and clarinet too.

She likes playing football too ( she is a woman Zidane !!)

And she likes dancing, she is very very good !!!

She is funny too we laughed very much together !

When she speaks French she likes saying “ TU ES TERRIBLE !!!”

We visited together the “Mont St odile”, The “Volerie des Aigles”, Strasbourg …….

She visited Paris with the other Australians penfriends. She thinks that Paris is the most beautiful city in the world !!!

We went bowling too with Pauline, Olivia, Benjamin, Brandon, Justine, Leah, Samory, and Jordan.

We went to Europapark too, with the other penfriends from Australia and from France. After Europapark we went to the restaurant to say goodbye ! We sang, we played music and we talked !! J It was really a good day but it was the last !!

When Nicola left me I was very very sad !!! I cried !!

But I will see Nicola again in April, in Australia !!!

I had a fantastic time with her !!

We laughed very much together !!!
