Why the Kookaburra laughs like that ?

A long time ago, in the Dreamtime, the kookaburra was very sad and alone because he didn’t have any friends.

One day, he decided to look for new friends, and he found lots of little insects which he had never seen. So, he followed them to their home. It was ants, and to see better, he put his head in the ant hill. But an ant went in his mouth and fell in his throat! And when the kookaburra wanted to speak, the ant saw a light and want to walk out, so that tickled the kookaburra and he laughed.

Since then, the kookaburra has lots of friends beacause he has a very funny laugh and he looks happy all the time.

lumières de Noël. Avec la fête, quelques villes ont les patinoires. Cette année a Higham Ferrers, il y avait une foire et une decoration d’anges. A Rushden, il y a toujours un marché continental.

Bonjour Valentine! Je m’appelle Cristina et J’ai 14 ans (mon anniversaire est le 3 de janvier).

J’habite à Thrapston avec ma mère, mon père et ma soeur, mais je vais au collège de Higham Ferrers. Mon collège va bien et mes matières scolaires préférées sont la philosophie, textiles, l’histoire et le théâtre. J’aime étudiant. Dans mes temps libres j’aime faire les patinage sur glace, (je vais à la patinoire le Dimanche) les dessins et écouter ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ ( j’adore ceci musical!). Mais ma passion plus grande est la mode. J’aime le monde de la mode, et les vêtements de marque. Mes marques préféré sont Dolce&Gabbana. Donc j’adore les grand magasins et les boutiques des vêtements de marque (comme Harrods à Londres, que est mon magasin préféré). Quand je serai une adulte je veux devenir une concepteur.

Je ne regarder pas trop la télé parce que je n’ai jamais le temps, mais mon films préféré sont,

‘The Phantom of the Opera’ (que je connais par coœur) ‘Jonny Stecchino’ et ‘Amelie’.

J’aime aussi voyager. J’adore visiter les pays étrangers (spécialement dans l’Europe). J’ai visité la France, l’Espagne, l’Irlande, la Suiss, l’Allemagne et je viens de l’Italie. Mais je ne peux pas attendre pour aller à Paris, parce que j’adore la France.

The Snake and the Dunnart

A long time ago in the dreamtime, there lived a snake who had a very big appetite.

One day, he met the biggest wild animal of the world : the dunnart (a mouse). The snake had eyes bigger than his stomach because he was very greedy ! He wanted to eat the dunnart ! Given that the dunnart was very very shy, he ran away at top speed seeing the snake.

But suddenly, the dunnart fell on a thorny devil (a lizard with very pointed spikes), then just like that, he flew away like a balloon deflating.

The snake was really amazed ! The dunnart landed some metres farther ridiculously tiny. The snake approached the small animal and wanted to eat him ! But the dunnart ran very fast in a tiny mousehole where the snake couldn’t go.

Since then, all the dunnarts are extremely small !

Louise : J'aime beaucoup la Savoie , mais je préfère quand même l'Alsace car les paysages

sont très beau et il y a de très beau villages .

Elise : J'aime beaucoup l'île de la Réunion car il y a la mer, le soleil, j'ai l'impresison d'être

en vacances ! L'Alsace est aussi une très belle région, il y a de très beau village et

les montagnes à Dambach la ville ! C'est magnifique !

Bonjour!

Je m’appelle Nicola Kenton et j’ai quatorze ans. Mon anniversaire est le dix-neuf juin. J’habite en Angleterre à Rushden. J’ai une sœur qui s’appelle Georgine et un chat qui s’appelle Belle. Je joue un instrument qui s’appelle un hautbois et ma leçon c’est jeudi. Je nage quatre fois par semaine. Je suis active, intelligente et agréable. J’ai des yeux bleus et des cheveuxs bruns-blonds.

Pour mes examens j’ai choisi l’histoire, la géographie, la musique, le français et les sciences. Ma matière préférée, c’est la musique! J’aime l’histoire et la géographie. Je déteste le football et le rugby mais j’aime la natation. Ma famille a une parcelle de terre.

Ma passion, c’est la natation. J’aime beaucoup ma passion parce que c’est bon pour la santé et j’aime l’ambience. Je préfère la natation plutôt que de regarder les competitions, mais il faut aussi en regarder pour appendre. Je fais de la natation une fois par semaine et je m’entraîne une fois par semaine.

Pour mes examens. J’ai choisi l’histoire, le français, les sciences, l’informatique et les médias. Ma matiere préférée, c’est la biologie! J’adore le chocolat et je deteste les choux et les petits pois.

Contents d'être sur le blog!

Nous nous appellons Alexia, Cristina, Emily et Nicola. Nous avons toutes quatorze ans et nous habitons dans le Northamptonshire en Angleterre. Notre collège s’appelle The Ferrers Specialist Arts College.

Voici un peu d’information sur nos vies:

• Le grand magasin préféré de Cristina, c’est Harrods.
• Le sport préféré d’Alexia, c’est la Formule 1.
• L’animal préféré de Nicola, c’est un chat.
• Le bâtiment préféré d’Emily, c’est un grand bâtiment bleu à Leicester.

Nous avons toutes visité la France en decembre dernier. A notre avis, la France est un lieu magique, pétillant et bonne pour le shopping! Nous aimons aussi la culture et la cuisine française!

Higham Ferrers est dans l’est de l’Angleterre. C’est une petite ville. À Higham Ferrers il y a un café qui s’appelle Beans, il a redoutable milkshake a malteser. Bien.

Le weekend nous rendons visite á nos copains.

À wellingborough on peut aller au bowling, on peut aller faire les magasins et, on peut aller le théâtre.

Bonjour Maud,

Ça m’a fait plaisir de recevoir ta lettre. Je vais te parler de moi!

Je m’appelle Alexia. J’ai quartorze ans. Mon anniversaire est le trente-et-un decembre. J’ai les cheveux bruns et les yeux bleus. Je suis sportive et bavarde. Ma sœur cadette s’appelle Saffron et elle habite avec moi.

J’habite en Angleterre, dans l’est, à Rushden. J’habite à Rushden depuis treize ans. Je viens de Harlow dans l’Essex. Je parle anglais.

Ma passion, c’est la Formule Un. J’adore les voitures. Dimanche, je regarde la Formule Un à la télé. Mon conducteur préféré, c’est Lewis Hamilton. Lewis est cool, intelligent et sportif. Il habite en Suisse. Lewis est Champion du Monde de la Formule Un. C’est très très très très bien!

Je joue au netball. Je joue pour l’école avec mes copains. Il y a peu de temps encore je jouait au netball pour Northamptonshire. Ma position est ‘GA’. J’aime faire du sport.

Je fais de claquettes et je fais de la danse moderne. Je ne fais pas de ballet. En plus, ma sœur danse aussi. Notre professeur s’appelle Mlle. Melanie.

J’envoye des textos á mes copains. Quand il pleut, je vais au cinéma avec mes copains. Nous regardons des films. J’écoute de la musique. Ma musique préférée, c’est la R’n’B musique. Selon moi, c’est bien.

Une journée typique – je me réveille à sept heures moins le quart sauf le weekend quand je me reveille à neuf heures et demie. À sept heures je mange le petit déjeuner. À huit heures vingt, je vais au college. Je rentre à quatre heures. Le soir, je fais mes devoirs, je mange le dîner, je regarde la télé et je me couche à dix heures.

Hello !

My first name’s Marina and my family name’s HILS. I was born on the twenty-second of February, nineteen ninety-five. So, I’m fourteen.

I’ve got a five-year-old brother and a twenty-year-old sister. I’ve also got two dogs and a rabbit. I study at Bernstein High School.

I’m tall and I’m of medium build. I have green eyes and long straight blond hair. I’m extremely optimistic, a little bit nosy, very outgoing, quite flexible but impatient and all my friends say I’m caring.

Every Tuesday and Friday, I play basketball from six pm to eight pm. Every day except Wednesday and Sunday, I get up at half past seven.

I’m fond of basketball. I enjoy going to parties, listening to music and surfing to the Internet. On Saturday, I like rushing out to the latest movie or concert. I dislike intolerance, irresponsibility, dishonesty and impoliteness. I hate vegetables.

I can’t live whithout my music because I play bass and guitar. Later, I would like to have a job in music or in cinema.

About our European Section

In the European Section, we learn lots of interesting things. It’s not a subject like another because we help each other and we work together.

Last year, first we spoke about the British Isles and every group had to do a presentation about a British Isles country. Then we made a little session about the Royal Family. After that, Christmas came and we started to speak about Australia: Did you know that in Australia, Father Christmas is in a swimsuit? This session was very funny. We talked about Australia's discovery (James Cook, 19^th April 1770). And then we came to a very good subject: the aboriginals and their traditions.

Some of us did a dreamtime story, that's an aboriginal story about how the world was created. And the others had to do a travel brochure about Australian's different states.

On the one hand, the travel brochure presentations was very interesting and we wanted to go to Australia; and on the other hand the dreamtime stories were super too! You can read them on the blog.

Conclusion the European section is a great subject …

My name’s Romane Dirringer. I’m fourteen. I’m in the European Section at Bernstein High. I live in Dambach-la-Ville. I start school at eight in the morning and I stop at four. I don’t have school on Wednesdays but I have school in the morning on Saturdays. My favourite subject is geography and English but I don’t like history. During me-time I play tennis and I swim one hour per week. I play the guitar and I like listening to music, and going to the cinema; my favorite film is ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’. I like travelling too, reading magazines, going to parties, shopping, and chatting on MSN . I love my pets … I have two cats and a hamster. I have got one little sister.. During my summer holidays I went to Provence in the south of France. I stayed one week. I went canyoning, I went swimming in a lake and I visited lots of little villages. I had a great time !!!

I'm Valentine. I’m 14, I’m at Bernstein High, in Dambach-la-ville.

I’ve got two sisters and one brother and I’ve got a cat.

I’m shy, but curious. I’m hardworking, and easygoing. I’m impatient, and I’m quiet honest.

Every Wednesday, I go to the swimming-pool. I swim approximately one hour. Every Saturday, I go to Strasbourg with my family, to see my sister; she’s 18 and she lives there. Often, on Saturdays evenings, I see my friends. We go to parties, or we go camping, and we eat together.. I have loads of fun with them !

I like to ride my bike, I like going shopping, travelling, listening to music, and reading. I enjoy cooking too. I like to play on my computer.. I couldn’t live without my techy stuff, and my books.
During my summer holidays, I went to the South of France. My holidays were great, because I saw old friends. I swam in the sea, I went snorkelling, I went shopping.. But I didn’t fall in love ! I wanted to go watterskiing, but I didn’t.

Later, I would like to be a teacher, or a nurse.

Hello !

My name is Kevin Lutz and I’m 14 years old. I have a little brother. I live in Nothalten in a house. I have a rabbit. I’m in the European Section at Bernstein High. I play football in a club and lots of others sports. I like chocolate and sweets. I like music and films with action. I read a lot but I don’t like working.

During my summer holiday, I went to Vendée in the west of the France. I stayed 10 days, I swam in the sea, I sunbathed on the beach. I visited a windmill and a castle of water.

What we found out about Ferrers...

During E.S we did a web quest to find information about our partner school in England. This is what we found:

The Ferrers School is in the middle of England in Rushden. The nearest big town is Northampton. We can see on the map, they play a lot of sports like Tennis, baseball, longjump , diskus, football and cricket. The name of the principal is Dr Rosemary Litawski.

They learn a lot of languages , first they learn German, then French and Spanish. After two years , they can learn to speak Russian , and Chinese. The specialist subjects are dancing, art , music , drama and design technology. There are 1091 pupils in the school. The colours of the uniforms are white and dark blue. The summer holidays start on the 20^th of july. The grade which corresponds to 4ème and 3ème in France are year 10 and year11.

Next May we hope to meet them and visit London and Paris with them.

Presenting Maud and Alice...

My name’s Maud, I’m fourteen. I live in Ebersheim. I’ve got a little brother and a little sister too.

Every Saturday, I go to Sélestat to climb. It’s my sport, I meet my friends there. It’s my favourite moment in the week. I laugh a lot and we play spiders on the wall.

I like reading, I read very night, I read a majority of thrillers and after, I’m afraid. I listen to music too. (rock music…)

During the holidays, I went to the Jura in August from the third to the sixth. I visited a lot of caves and waterfalls. I discovered a lot of wonderful landscapes…

Hello!

My name is Alice FALLER. I’m fourteen and I live in Epfig. I’ve got two brothers... and a guinea pig. I play the guitar every Wednesday and I swim every Monday. On Friday I sing in a Choir and every winter I ski with my family and my cousin. During my holidays I went one week to Germany to see my penfriend. We painted, read, listened to music and we went to the swimming pool. I also camped with my parents, with my God-mother and my cousin in the South of Alsace. We did lots of walking and the landscapes were very beautiful. On the 18^th of August it was my birthday then on the 20th of August I was to Lourdes with my best friends for one week. And when we came back there were two days and then I went back to school!

Introducing ourselves...

Presentation of our school

"Bernstein High"

Our school’s name is “Bernstein High”. There are between 400 and 450 pupils. Bernstein High is a normal school; we have school from 8.00am to midday then we go to eat in the canteen. Next we return to school from 1.30pm to 4.30pm but Tuesdays it’s till 5.30pm instead of 4.30pm. We have school on Saturdays morning too that’s why we don’t have school on Wednesday.

We stay at Bernstein High for four years. The first years, we can begin to do more sports than the other people if we want. It’s the UNSS (Union National des Sports Scolaire). The Second year, we can begin to learn Latin. And the third year, we can have two hours more English in the European Section where we learn the history of English countries. Our school is cool, dynamic with a very good atmosphere.

Presentation of the European Section Class

In our class, we are 24 pupils. We often work in groups and we discover lots of things about English-speaking countries. In the European Section we work less than in the other subjects, for example last year we did presentations about the British Isles, it was funny and every group did one of the British countries. Then we talked about Australia and some of us (seven pupils) had an Australian pen friend. Australia is as beautiful a country as British Isles. When we did Australia we did Dreamtime stories with an Aboriginal drawing or a Travel Brochure of the states or territories of Australia. And this year we are going to work on America and Great Britain because we are going to go to London and Paris with you. When Mrs Stenger said that we could have English pen friends we were very happy because maybe we will have new friends!

So, we like our class because all hours we have a good time!
